Mumbai is plagued with one of the lowest per capita open space ratio among the metropolitan cities of the world. Given the high population density and soaring real estate prices, altering this ratio seems nearly impossible.
However, PLURAL, through its research and mapping efforts, has pinpointed derelict and underutilized areas within the city's urban fabric. Collaborating with local communities, PLURAL has transformed these spaces through Placemaking into public areas accessible to all. In a successful pilot project, in cooperation with corporate entities and local governance the funding gap was bridged, PLURAL introduced an innovative approach to the future of placemaking in Mumbai.
PARK FOR ALL is a standing testimony of a collaborative approach of designing public spaces.
